The first of the Autumn/Winter 2017 bridal trends I’m going to look at is a statement back- whether it’s illusion lace, a cowl, plunge, fastening, or fabulous train it’s lovely to have a beautiful back. After all, it’s what your wedding guests will be seeing for most of your ceremony!
The wedding dress: Stella York style 6404 – this bridal gown has been one of my favourites since I first had a browse around our La Novia bridal boutique, and it features so many aspects of the statement back that it’s a great example of this 2017 trend. The ivory crepe fabric is perfectly matte and drapes well, providing a good base without distracting from the details. The back is detailed with lace, working up from where it is laid over the fabric at the hips, and spreading up the back in a symmetrical illusion. It fastens with buttons (on the lace) and a zip (on the crepe), however, the buttons continue down the centre back in a smooth line to the very end of the train. The train itself attaches below the bottom in a flattering, inverted “v” shaped seam, and is finished along the bottom with a trim of the same bold lace as the top and back.
Hair and accessories – classy up do and birdcage veil. This birdcage veil and bridal hairpiece is one of our own, with matte flowers and lace detail, embellished with pearls to compliment the wedding dress. I have chosen a birdcage, rather than a more traditional veil and bridal headpiece, and a sleek up do, to keep the focus on the statement back of the bridal gown. No hair or tulle covering it, keeping the eye on the stunning back details while adding a demure touch.
