This week we received a lovely message from our La Novia bride Amy who got married back in July at Carlowrie CastlWe created a custom-made style, based on our Katharine dress, and we are glad to hear that Amy loved it just as much as we loved making it (we think this is our favourite dress this year!):
“I just wanted to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU! You are all so talented and amazing and I cannot thank you enough! Thank you for creating a perfect dress for me, and for all the advice and expertise. Also for accommodating the last minute veil issue!! Thank you!! My dress was truly unique and I had so many lovely comments on it. I really hope its the new ‘Amy’ Dress!”
It was a pleasure to work on this new design and Amy looked absolutely perfect in her bespoke gown, which channeled a classic and Royal elegance. Created by our designer Liliana Dabic, the dress is cut from luxury Duchess satin in ivory, and has an off-shoulder neckline which is so flattering, exposing the collarbones and elongating the neck; the folded detail at the neck and back looked sooo gorgeous on Amy and gives a sophisticated vintage look along with the fabric-covered buttons, which go all the way down to the train.
Amy had an extra special trick up her sleeve with this dress, in that we made them detachable! Once she found the Katharine dress which is originally sleeveless, Amy suggested that she may have preferred to have a long sleeve. For a Summer wedding, a sleeve can feel a little restrictive to wear all day and into the evening, especially in a heavier fabric. We decided to work our magic and give Amy the best of both worlds so created chic long sleeves which attach with discreet popper fastenings into the armholes; and with the folded detail around the arms you could never tell.
This dress makes a statement and the voluminous skirt creates a dramatic, regal silhouette which Amy carried effortlessly. She finished off her look with a single-layer cathedral length veil which was oh so traditional. This complimented the theme of her wedding ceremony and classic feel of the day perfectly, as it was held at the historic Carlowrie Castle. The venue boasts gorgeous grounds, where Anna Urban captured some amazing images of the happy couple.
We are delighted to see so many smiles in these photos and Amy looking like a dream in her dress. Huge congratulations from the La Novia team!
Corrine wore our strapless luxurious satin Julia dress for her wedding day, opting for a bridal look with a timeless A-line silhouette. She looked fabulous and said: “thank you so much for my amazing dress. It was just perfect for our day and the girls at the shop made me feel so relaxed when I came to try things on. I even ended up with something completely unexpected. I felt wonderful on the day and got so many compliments on my dress”.
Corrine and Stuart chose the stunning 19th century Cambo Estate in East Neuk, Fife as the venue for their wedding day. The woodland, gardens and beach that surround the estate were a real selling point as they wanted to achieve an organic feel when designing their day; nature really played a part in it, and we can see this from all the beautiful photos captured by Caro Weiss Photography in the surrounding landscape. Along with the marquee festival theme, personal touches were spread throughout; it was a team effort the day before the wedding to make their gorgeously chic floral hoops which hung in marquee, and greenery and foraged flowers were used to decorate the tables.
This natural theme went so well with Corrine’s bridal look which was soft and classic, yet contemporary with the addition of her dark red lip colour, and the textured lace Nikki bolero by Oscar Lili which added some sparkle from the embroidered beads and sequins. We loved the dusty pink and green tones of Corrine’s colour palette, and going for the less traditional approach by having her bridesmaids in different coloured skirts was a lovely touch. The floristry brought all of the beautiful colours and textures together and was done by Cath Reilly.
Corrine told us that her “day was perfect. So much planning goes into a wedding and it was amazing to see it all come together on the day. We wanted our wedding to be full of friends, family, braw food, some right good beer – artfully brewed by the best man – and amazing music. A right good party.”
The La Novia team are so happy for Stuart and Corrine, and loved to see how amazing their day turned out. Congratulations!
We love a sunny destination wedding, and after seeing these amazing photos from La Novia bride Antonia’s wedding day, we were not disappointed. If you want a romantic getaway wedding then where better than a historic hilltop village surrounded by gorgeous countryside and vineyards…
Choosing to get married in Antonia’s family hometown of Monforte, in the beautiful Lazio region of Italy, Antonia and her husband James took a personal and laid-back approach to their wedding planning; opting to design and decorate most of their day themselves with simple lighting, and handmade decorations for a rustic and quintessentially Italian feel. With the help of Antonia’s parents they even sourced wood from the surrounding mountains to create their own take on the wedding arch. As you can see from these photos fuss-free was the way to go and their day looked gorgeous!
Antonia’s bridal look was just the right balance of relaxed and elegant, which worked perfectly for the occasion being a warm summer wedding. The ceremony took place in the local church which requires an element of tradition when it comes to a bridal gown, therefore the delicate French Fiona lace bolero was an ideal addition with a refined boat neckline and long sleeves. Having a bolero layered over Antonia’s customized wedding gown, made by our very own Liliana Dabic, was the perfect way to bring versatility to the look. After the ceremony and their meal, the couple hired a square in the neighbouring village where all the locals could get involved and enjoy the celebrations along with the guests. Antonia’s wedding dress was a simple and sleek strapless style which accentuated her figure with a plain waistband. The intricate beaded lace overlay on the skirt added some sparkle and a touch of glamour perfect for the evening party time in the piazza, and it also paired beautifully with her cute gold heels which gave her wedding style a stylish twist.
Over the Summer months we have seen our La Novia brides loving the Boho trend, opting for fragile florals and decorative lace details on their wedding dresses. Boho bridal dresses are perfect if you want more embellishment whilst keeping it looking delicate and casual; whereas having a simpler dress can be great if you want to be a bit more quirky with your bridal accessories and style up your look with fresh blooms, layered jewellery or maybe even a customized denim jacket.
A key Autumn/Winter bridal trend for next year is in keeping with the Boho vibes of Summer but updating it into a more polished and grown-up look.
If simplicity is the name of the game when it comes to your wedding dress inspiration, and you want a carefree style which is still channeling a little 1970’s vintage glam then our dress of the moment may be the one for you.
Our favourite dress is Claudia, a dreamy and elegant gown designed by Oscar Lili. A fuss-free, classic sheath silhouette cut from immaculate white crepe fabric which has a beautiful drape and pools into a modest train. The low V-back of the dress with button-down detail is so flattering and gives the design just a little bit of a flirty feel.
The high boat neckline and gorgeous chiffon bell sleeves with lace cuffs are all about creating the vintage Boho bride look. Perfect for an understated barn venue or festival themed wedding, this design is lightweight and ethereal – you will be floating down the aisle. The effortless simplicity speaks for itself with this dress and it doesn’t need to be over-styled; some delicate jewellery and wild flowers would be enough. In saying that, if you want to go all out with the accessories then this gown is versatile enough for experimentation. It is your big day after-all!
