After a lovely holiday, we’re excited at La Novia to get into the new year and welcome our 2020/21 brides. However, since we’re still reminiscing over the festivities and struggling to let go of the Christmas spirit we’re having a throwback to this gorgeous Christmassy wedding.
Our bride Sophia got married to her husband Zee at the Principal Edinburgh Hotel on George Street, which is a stunning venue showcasing elegant 18th-century features and provides the ultimate luxurious wedding. It made for the perfect festive setting with tasteful bauble wreaths, and twinkling lights to match the simple gold and green table settings; not to mention the classic red rose and foliage bouquets by Spiral Flowers Edinburgh. We love the choice of the bridesmaids colour palette, in deep forest green and teal tones; in lace which compliments the bride’s gown.
For Sophia’s bridal look she went for our classic satin Marianna gown with an underskirt to add soft volume. The structured strapless bodice gives good shape to the figure and gives an elegant, minimalist look which allowed Sophia to add a customised cap sleeve top for layering. The high neck style in our thicker Andrea lace looked perfect for her winter wedding and added warmth along with the cosy faux-fur wrap, which Sophia used to accessorise her look. For a little sparkle, a diamante waist belt and the most amazing Jimmy Choo stilettos added just the right amount of glamour, and Sophia’s bridal style channelled a chic and sophisticated feel.
The beautiful photographs by Loraine Ross capture the mood of Sophia and Zee’s day to perfection, and the couple looks stunning! We hope they have had the best year as husband and wife and wish them all the love from the team at La Novia.
Looking back on Neil and Dianne’s glorious Summer wedding at Myres Castle has us reminiscing of warm sunny days this jumper season; we’re looking forward to summer wedding fever coming back around! This wedding is a special one filled with character, personal touches and the handsome pair look delighted.
Myres Castle is the most beautiful venue for enjoying the outdoors, as you can spend time in the perfectly maintained gardens and tennis courts. Claire Fleck, Dianne’s photographer captured every moment in her gorgeous photos of Neil and Dianne’s wedding day; with amazing shots of the happy couple getting ready in the grandeur of the castle, saying their “I do’s”, strolling around the grounds, and having a blast in the unique barnquee for their meal and dancing.
Dianne made a stunning bride and we are so pleased at La Novia to have helped her find a dress which looked absolutely perfect. She wore BT19-16 from the Enzoani Beautiful Collection. This A-line gown has a layered tulle skirt which is soft and flowing giving an effortless romantic look; we added extra under-skirting for Dianne to give more volume and a ballgown shape to her silhouette. This looked amazing combined with her Cathedral length lace edged veil and gave her look a fairy-tale feel, which went well with Dianne’s choice of a vintage car, and beautiful horse drawn carriage for her transport to the ceremony and then reception. We are totally loving it, what a way to make an entrance.
The bodice of this dress was perfect for a relaxed summer wedding; made from delicate embroidered ivory lace with a sweetheart plunge neckline and thin lace spaghetti straps. The lace back is sheer with lovely button detailing to give a touch of glamour; whilst the botanical patterned lace complimented the organic feel of their day. This dress is contemporary, simple and playful and needs no glitter to make a statement. We love Dianne’s personal touch adding the grey satin ribbon to the waist and allowing her to have a sweet bow tied at the back.
The floristry was done by Oor Fleurs, and for her bouquet Dianne went for a natural green foliage paired with soft ivory roses and floral buds. This was accentuated by her floral crown to match which finished off her look, giving an fresh and glowing bridal style.
We loved creating Dianne’s bridal look for her and can’t get enough of these wedding photos! Huge congratulations and thanks to Dianne and Neil from all of us at La Novia.
We love to make sure you have the best selection of the latest bridal designs at La Novia, so this week we have introduced some stunning new styles from the Enzoani 2020 Collection to keep your bridal look on-trend. Their latest collection is all about glamour and opulence, and will have you feeling like royalty on your wedding day.
This strapless silhouette cinching design in stretch Georgette fabric gives you the ultimate fishtail bridal gown. The style is minimal and strapless at the front, whilst the back is adorned with bold embroidered lace which cascades all the way down into a long scalloped. A classic Enzoani look which can also be finished with the Odelia cape.
This is a signature Enzoani mermaid gown which is for the bride who wants the wow-factor. With illusion lace side panels and a low open V-back this bridal gown gives a sexy look and creates an hourglass silhouette. You will look unique in the Chantilly lace fabric which is layered over sparkling sequin tulle.
This figure-hugging gown is made from dramatic Chantilly lace over the finest nude or ivory sheer tulle. The style is so flattering with a plunge v-neckline to elongate the neck. The mirroring V side cut-outs and low back are daring, yet this dress is so elegant with classic pearl beading which is subtly placed along the neckline. The back has a gorgeous sheer train with scalloped edging.
This long-sleeved bridal gown is sophisticated, refined and so flattering. The clean Georgette fabric skims the figure beautifully, creating a slim fit before flaring out into a full lace train for added drama. Our workroom has been busy over the last few weeks as our designer Liliana and the team have been creating some stunning new made-to-measure designs to bring to the La Novia Bridal Collection.
The latest wedding trends for 2020 are all about an individual and contemporary aesthetic as couples are stepping away from the traditional style and updating it with their own personal twists. We have been reflecting this relaxed approach to wedding planning by creating fuss-free bridal gowns which give the modern bride an easy and elegant look that they can enjoy wearing for the whole day.
Our latest collection is focused on sleek and clean silhouettes made from luxurious double crepe fabric, which is great for its ability to drape to perfection and move with the the body; so you can dance the night away.
The “Denice” and “Sophie” bridal dresses give a long-sleeved or sleeveless option of a figure-hugging crepe skirted style, which pools into a modest train for just a touch of drama. The bodice is made from unique crochet lace that is geometric in pattern and provides an alternative for brides who aren’t lovers of feminine floral, laces. The high-neckline is balanced by a sexy low back and sheer lace cut-outs.
If you want to show a little more skin and add some subtle glamour then the “Rianna” dress is a fresh and minimalist update for the Boho bride. Perfect for a relaxed Summer ceremony. The bodice suits a variety of body shapes with a flattering deep V-neckline. It is made from a vintage crochet lace, which features a stylish sheer waistband and low back. This gown is fitted through the hips and flares out into a long train that will make you feel stunning walking down the aisle.
For the ultimate fuss-free bride who still wants to channel a little modern Boho vibe, then we have created the “Donna” dress. Made fully in double crepe with a high neckline and soft A-line silhouette. We love the subtle details in the form of delicate lace edging and a sheer lace waistband which draws in the figure. The open keyhole back adds a modern feel to an otherwise classic design, that is versatile for different wedding styles.
This week we received a lovely message from our La Novia bride Amy who got married back in July at Carlowrie CastlWe created a custom-made style, based on our Katharine dress, and we are glad to hear that Amy loved it just as much as we loved making it (we think this is our favourite dress this year!):
“I just wanted to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU! You are all so talented and amazing and I cannot thank you enough! Thank you for creating a perfect dress for me, and for all the advice and expertise. Also for accommodating the last minute veil issue!! Thank you!! My dress was truly unique and I had so many lovely comments on it. I really hope its the new ‘Amy’ Dress!”
It was a pleasure to work on this new design and Amy looked absolutely perfect in her bespoke gown, which channeled a classic and Royal elegance. Created by our designer Liliana Dabic, the dress is cut from luxury Duchess satin in ivory, and has an off-shoulder neckline which is so flattering, exposing the collarbones and elongating the neck; the folded detail at the neck and back looked sooo gorgeous on Amy and gives a sophisticated vintage look along with the fabric-covered buttons, which go all the way down to the train.
Amy had an extra special trick up her sleeve with this dress, in that we made them detachable! Once she found the Katharine dress which is originally sleeveless, Amy suggested that she may have preferred to have a long sleeve. For a Summer wedding, a sleeve can feel a little restrictive to wear all day and into the evening, especially in a heavier fabric. We decided to work our magic and give Amy the best of both worlds so created chic long sleeves which attach with discreet popper fastenings into the armholes; and with the folded detail around the arms you could never tell.
This dress makes a statement and the voluminous skirt creates a dramatic, regal silhouette which Amy carried effortlessly. She finished off her look with a single-layer cathedral length veil which was oh so traditional. This complimented the theme of her wedding ceremony and classic feel of the day perfectly, as it was held at the historic Carlowrie Castle. The venue boasts gorgeous grounds, where Anna Urban captured some amazing images of the happy couple.
We are delighted to see so many smiles in these photos and Amy looking like a dream in her dress. Huge congratulations from the La Novia team!
Corrine wore our strapless luxurious satin Julia dress for her wedding day, opting for a bridal look with a timeless A-line silhouette. She looked fabulous and said: “thank you so much for my amazing dress. It was just perfect for our day and the girls at the shop made me feel so relaxed when I came to try things on. I even ended up with something completely unexpected. I felt wonderful on the day and got so many compliments on my dress”.
Corrine and Stuart chose the stunning 19th century Cambo Estate in East Neuk, Fife as the venue for their wedding day. The woodland, gardens and beach that surround the estate were a real selling point as they wanted to achieve an organic feel when designing their day; nature really played a part in it, and we can see this from all the beautiful photos captured by Caro Weiss Photography in the surrounding landscape. Along with the marquee festival theme, personal touches were spread throughout; it was a team effort the day before the wedding to make their gorgeously chic floral hoops which hung in marquee, and greenery and foraged flowers were used to decorate the tables.
This natural theme went so well with Corrine’s bridal look which was soft and classic, yet contemporary with the addition of her dark red lip colour, and the textured lace Nikki bolero by Oscar Lili which added some sparkle from the embroidered beads and sequins. We loved the dusty pink and green tones of Corrine’s colour palette, and going for the less traditional approach by having her bridesmaids in different coloured skirts was a lovely touch. The floristry brought all of the beautiful colours and textures together and was done by Cath Reilly.
Corrine told us that her “day was perfect. So much planning goes into a wedding and it was amazing to see it all come together on the day. We wanted our wedding to be full of friends, family, braw food, some right good beer – artfully brewed by the best man – and amazing music. A right good party.”
The La Novia team are so happy for Stuart and Corrine, and loved to see how amazing their day turned out. Congratulations!
We love a sunny destination wedding, and after seeing these amazing photos from La Novia bride Antonia’s wedding day, we were not disappointed. If you want a romantic getaway wedding then where better than a historic hilltop village surrounded by gorgeous countryside and vineyards…
Choosing to get married in Antonia’s family hometown of Monforte, in the beautiful Lazio region of Italy, Antonia and her husband James took a personal and laid-back approach to their wedding planning; opting to design and decorate most of their day themselves with simple lighting, and handmade decorations for a rustic and quintessentially Italian feel. With the help of Antonia’s parents they even sourced wood from the surrounding mountains to create their own take on the wedding arch. As you can see from these photos fuss-free was the way to go and their day looked gorgeous!
Antonia’s bridal look was just the right balance of relaxed and elegant, which worked perfectly for the occasion being a warm summer wedding. The ceremony took place in the local church which requires an element of tradition when it comes to a bridal gown, therefore the delicate French Fiona lace bolero was an ideal addition with a refined boat neckline and long sleeves. Having a bolero layered over Antonia’s customized wedding gown, made by our very own Liliana Dabic, was the perfect way to bring versatility to the look. After the ceremony and their meal, the couple hired a square in the neighbouring village where all the locals could get involved and enjoy the celebrations along with the guests. Antonia’s wedding dress was a simple and sleek strapless style which accentuated her figure with a plain waistband. The intricate beaded lace overlay on the skirt added some sparkle and a touch of glamour perfect for the evening party time in the piazza, and it also paired beautifully with her cute gold heels which gave her wedding style a stylish twist.
Over the Summer months we have seen our La Novia brides loving the Boho trend, opting for fragile florals and decorative lace details on their wedding dresses. Boho bridal dresses are perfect if you want more embellishment whilst keeping it looking delicate and casual; whereas having a simpler dress can be great if you want to be a bit more quirky with your bridal accessories and style up your look with fresh blooms, layered jewellery or maybe even a customized denim jacket.
A key Autumn/Winter bridal trend for next year is in keeping with the Boho vibes of Summer but updating it into a more polished and grown-up look.
If simplicity is the name of the game when it comes to your wedding dress inspiration, and you want a carefree style which is still channeling a little 1970’s vintage glam then our dress of the moment may be the one for you.
Our favourite dress is Claudia, a dreamy and elegant gown designed by Oscar Lili. A fuss-free, classic sheath silhouette cut from immaculate white crepe fabric which has a beautiful drape and pools into a modest train. The low V-back of the dress with button-down detail is so flattering and gives the design just a little bit of a flirty feel.
The high boat neckline and gorgeous chiffon bell sleeves with lace cuffs are all about creating the vintage Boho bride look. Perfect for an understated barn venue or festival themed wedding, this design is lightweight and ethereal – you will be floating down the aisle. The effortless simplicity speaks for itself with this dress and it doesn’t need to be over-styled; some delicate jewellery and wild flowers would be enough. In saying that, if you want to go all out with the accessories then this gown is versatile enough for experimentation. It is your big day after-all!
The Claudia sample is available to try in our Queen Street boutique; for inquiries and appointments send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
