Postponed/Cancelled Weddings

We are really feeling for our brides who have had to make tough decisions to postpone their wedding plans due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The impact will be significant on us as a bridal business as well as on other suppliers in the industry.

Many of you with weddings coming up in the next few months will be having a dilemma of whether to cancel, reduce guest numbers, or move your date. There will be so many factors to consider and we are here to help when it comes to both your wedding dress, and moral support!

If you’ve ordered your dress with us and have had to make any major changes please get in touch with us as soon as you can so we can update order forms, and keep production running as smoothly as possible. We will answer any questions/concerns you have to the best of our ability, despite this being an uncertain time for us all.

We are working hard to finish orders ahead of schedule for our earlier brides’ wedding dates, and we are kindly asking our brides whose dresses are ready to collect them promptly. This is to ensure orders are finalized where possible, and space will be freed in the boutique if we get to a stage where many customers cannot get to us to collect their dresses.

We wish all you lovely brides the very best, take care and keep in touch with us.  Our Edinburgh boutique is still open as normal until we are advised otherwise, so if you would like to come in to speak to us please do. x

Real Bride: Belinda

Our lovely bride Belinda got married to her husband Aaron at The Vu, Bathgate, where they enjoyed gorgeous views and photo opportunities over Ballencrieff Reservoir. Her wedding album was filled with natural and happy photos which captured the warmth of her day, thanks to Picturesque Wedding Photography (https://picturesquewedding.com/).

Belinda looked sophisticated and glowing, and made a stylish entrance arriving with her bridesmaids in a classic vintage car. We loved her bridesmaids dresses in deep forest green, perfect for a winter wedding, with a touch of lace to mirror the bride’s dress.

For her bridal look she chose a romantic textured lace wedding gown by Stella York (style 6569) with all over beading to make sure she sparkled on her wedding day. The off-shoulder style was so flattering and the open lace back of this dress was gorgeous on Belinda.

We love that she wore a short white faux fur jacket which finished off her look and added the ultimate touch of glamour (as well as keeping off the windy winter chill!).

We are so thrilled Belinda found her perfect dress with us and she said:

“I just want to say a massive thank you to Lilliana for helping me to find the one and for making sure the fit and every little detail of the dress was just perfect! I can honestly say I felt amazing on my big day and cannot thank Lilliana and the rest of the team at La Novia enough! Loved meeting Oscar too.”

We are touched by her kind words, and it is so rewarding to hear your feedback as we strive to make sure everything is just right for each and every bride who gets their wedding dress with us. Thank you and huge congratulations to Belinda and Aaron, we wish you all the very best.

Real Bride: Emma

We’re looking back at this lovely couple Emma & Ewan, and the beautiful wedding photos from their big day back in October at Saint Andrew’s Leckie Church, followed by their reception at Peebles Hydro.

This was the most gorgeous autumnal wedding, where the rain showers were handled in style with bridal appropriate brollies and so many happy smiles. Surrounded by autumn leaves, the couple walked around the scenic grounds of Peebles Hydro after their ceremony, sharing special moments which were beautifully captured by Natalie Martin (Story of Love Photography). She captured the warm, joyful, family feel of their day so well which really made it difficult choosing our favourite images!

Our bride Emma looked stunning in her Jessica Grace (Brisbane) bridal gown which she paired with a custom-made lace edged veil from the La Novia collection. She said that as soon as she tried her dress on with us she instantly knew it was the one. She told us “the alterations were great, the whole experience was fantastic and just helped make the planning of the wedding a wonderful experience. I felt so comfortable on my wedding day and had lots of compliments on my dress. I loved my dress! Thank you so much!”

We loved working with Emma and want to create a memorable, joyful experience for every bride who steps into our Edinburgh bridal boutique. Emma looked so elegant in her wedding dress and finished off her look with delicate pearl jewellery and a simple ivory and natural foliage bouquet by Stems.

Congratulations again to Mr & Mrs Murdoch, and best wishes from the La Novia team.

Real Bride: Catherine

Dress: Clementina with matching bolero by Liliana Dabic
Venue: McKee Barracks/ Tankardstown House
Photographer: Livia Figueiredo
Florist: A lovely family effort by the mothers of the bride & groom
Hair/Make-up: Powder Room Girls, Dublin

This beautiful, festive wedding warmed us up! It was a lovely traditional affair, and with Ross and Catherine both being army officers, they chose to have a military wedding. It was held at McKee Barracks in Dublin, which made a gorgeous characterful venue allowing for a military union with traditional touches, which were beautifully captured by their photographer Livia Figueiredo. The couple completed the  wedding ceremony through the saber arch surrounded by happy friends and family, before being transported by a lovely vintage Rolls-Royce to the reception at Tankardstown House where they enjoyed more stunning photo opportunities in the surrounding gardens and grounds.

With all the smart military regalia, bridesmaids in green and the many stylish guests, it is safe to say there were some sharp dressers in this bridal party; and the bride and groom completely stole the show, with Ross even getting an outfit change in for the reception where he switched to a traditional kilt. For the ceremony, he looked the part in full military green uniform which was perfectly complimented by Catherine’s choice of the Clementina dress by Liliana Dabic. The vintage style champagne lace over luxury Duchess satin give this gown the wow-factor; scattered gold and silver embellishments make this gown something a little different and gave our bride a glamorous look with a full bridal ballgown silhouette.

Catherine told us she loved every second she spent wearing this wedding dress and we are thrilled to see how perfect she looked on the day. We helped her add some personal touches to her look, pairing this strapless gown with a matching bolero for extra coverage. Her long double layer veil was a nice addition for the traditional ceremony and we love the simple pearls she wore to match the beading in her bridal gown. For her bridal make-up Catherine, kept it fresh and natural and her hair was done in a modern chignon style, both by the Powder Room Girls based in Dublin.

Another beautiful La Novia real bride! We are delighted for the happy couple and wish them all the best.

Real Bride: Sophia

After a lovely holiday, we’re excited at La Novia to get into the new year and welcome our 2020/21 brides. However, since we’re still reminiscing over the festivities and struggling to let go of the Christmas spirit we’re having a throwback to this gorgeous Christmassy wedding.

Our bride Sophia got married to her husband Zee at the Principal Edinburgh Hotel on George Street, which is a stunning venue showcasing elegant 18th-century features and provides the ultimate luxurious wedding. It made for the perfect festive setting with tasteful bauble wreaths, and twinkling lights to match the simple gold and green table settings; not to mention the classic red rose and foliage bouquets by Spiral Flowers Edinburgh. We love the choice of the bridesmaids colour palette, in deep forest green and teal tones; in lace which compliments the bride’s gown.

For Sophia’s bridal look she went for our classic satin Marianna gown with an underskirt to add soft volume. The structured strapless bodice gives good shape to the figure and gives an elegant, minimalist look which allowed Sophia to add a customised cap sleeve top for layering. The high neck style in our thicker Andrea lace looked perfect for her winter wedding and added warmth along with the cosy faux-fur wrap, which Sophia used to accessorise her look. For a little sparkle, a diamante waist belt and the most amazing Jimmy Choo stilettos added just the right amount of glamour, and Sophia’s bridal style channelled a chic and sophisticated feel.

The beautiful photographs by Loraine Ross capture the mood of Sophia and Zee’s day to perfection, and the couple looks stunning! We hope they have had the best year as husband and wife and wish them all the love from the team at La Novia.

Real Bride: Dianne

Looking back on Neil and Dianne’s glorious Summer wedding at Myres Castle has us reminiscing of warm sunny days this jumper season; we’re looking forward to summer wedding fever coming back around! This wedding is a special one filled with character, personal touches and the handsome pair look delighted.

Myres Castle is the most beautiful venue for enjoying the outdoors, as you can spend time in the perfectly maintained gardens and tennis courts. Claire Fleck, Dianne’s photographer captured every moment in her gorgeous photos of Neil and Dianne’s wedding day; with amazing shots of the happy couple getting ready in the grandeur of the castle, saying their “I do’s”, strolling around the grounds, and having a blast in the unique barnquee for their meal and dancing.

Dianne made a stunning bride and we are so pleased at La Novia to have helped her find a dress which looked absolutely perfect. She wore BT19-16 from the Enzoani Beautiful Collection. This A-line gown has a layered tulle skirt which is soft and flowing giving an effortless romantic look; we added extra under-skirting for Dianne to give more volume and a ballgown shape to her silhouette. This looked amazing combined with her Cathedral length lace edged veil and gave her look a fairy-tale feel, which went well with Dianne’s choice of a vintage car, and beautiful horse drawn carriage for her transport to the ceremony and then reception. We are totally loving it, what a way to make an entrance.

The bodice of this dress was perfect for a relaxed summer wedding; made from delicate embroidered ivory lace with a sweetheart plunge neckline and thin lace spaghetti straps. The lace back is sheer with lovely button detailing to give a touch of glamour; whilst the botanical patterned lace complimented the organic feel of their day. This dress is contemporary, simple and playful and needs no glitter to make a statement. We love Dianne’s personal touch adding the grey satin ribbon to the waist and allowing her to have a sweet bow tied at the back.

The floristry was done by Oor Fleurs, and for her bouquet Dianne went for a natural green foliage paired with soft ivory roses and floral buds. This was accentuated by her floral crown to match which finished off her look, giving an fresh and glowing bridal style.

We loved creating Dianne’s bridal look for her and can’t get enough of these wedding photos! Huge congratulations and thanks to Dianne and Neil from all of us at La Novia.
