Join us at Crowne Plaza Edinburgh – The Roxburghe Hotel on Sunday 5th of October and watch our bridal fashion shows. We will be showcasing our own La Novia Couture designs and wedding dresses from our fab suppliers. We could not be more excited about this event! Hope to see you there! xx
We are pleased to announce the introduction of ready wear designer Miquel Suay into store. We will launch his arrival by showcasing a selection of gowns from his latest 2015 collection at the beginning of October.
Miquel Suay grew up in Spain surrounded by many artistic influences, with strong ties to the world of fashion. He is now the director of the families fashion business and has developed his own line of bridal wear which stays true to the brands original values. The brand prides itself on setting trends, its innovative designs and use of high-quality fabrics.
At La Novia, we would describe his 2015 collection as very romantic. Many of the designs in the collection are relaxed without any restrictive structure this allows the gowns to flow beautifully. The quality of fabric used is extremely high and is very luxurious, simply stunning – no corners have been cut and this adds to the overall brilliance! We would describe the collection as having a whimsical feel. Miquel Suay brings a modern touch to bridal wear and we love it!
It was such a fabulous weekend! Thanks to everyone who came by our stand to chat with us at Wedding Fair & Fashion Show Edinburgh Corn Exchange. Here are some pictures from this exciting event.
Looking forward to seeing all brides-to-be at their first appointments! La Novia Team. xx
As promised, I intend to share my ‘dresses of the month’ with you regularly, keeping you up to date with our own designs as well as the designers we stock. March is almost over, so I thought it was time to share a few more of my favourite dresses with you. Firstly, I would like to discuss the background of one of the designer collections we stock, Stella York. Stella York provides brides with sophisticated elegance. The Australian inspired designs bring glamour to any bride’s special day. The designs are influenced by the world’s hottest red carpet trends, the garments are thoughtfully crafted and the detail is truly stunning-with the use of beading, lace and charming fabric. The fit of the gowns are carefully constructed to provide the perfect fit, ensuring bride’s feel at ease and are comfortable throughout their day. For any of our brides searching for a princess style, look no further.
We have very recently received the ultimate fairy-tale show stopper. Stella York’s 5923 design is gorgeous. The dress features a carefully crafted Chantilly lace overlay which forms a pretty sheer neckline; it is very delicately placed over a fitted bodice. This is complimented with a full tulle skirt. The diamante beaded detail on the waist is also a unique element; the beads are placed in an almost floral pattern. No aspect is overlooked as even the back of the ball gown features a keyhole back which zips up under sparkling buttons.
At La Novia we also stock Stella York’s 5894. This princess ball gown is just as striking and certainly gives our brides their sought-after WOW. This silhouette is very flattering, especially for those seeking to conceal any lower-body anxieties. With the dramatic contrast of the fitted bodice and full skirt, there is no fear of blending into the background. The bodice is classic in style and features tulle pleating which gives enough detail while allowing the bodice to remain streamline, leaving the skirt to have the most impact. The tulle pleating is complimented with the diamante waistband which acts as a beautiful focal point, drawing the eye to the narrowest part of the bride’s waist. The waistband flatters the diamante beaded shoulder straps, these are optional. The overall look with the straps is more traditional but once removed creates a modern twist. In my previous ‘dresses of the month’ post I expressed my love for dresses which can transform. This idea is another simple way to create two looks for your big day. This gown also comes in white or off-white and with the option to have a zipper back with crystal buttons or a corset back closure.
Another of our Stella York dresses which caught my eye this month is their 5939 style. Lace is very traditional and will suit any style of wedding, it is timeless. This year in particular lace has seen a revival and is a key trend. This gown, in particular, is everything a lace gown should be, with a romantic, contemporary spin. With a sweetheart neckline and A-line skirt the silhouette is very sexy. An A-line skirt is recommended for petite brides as it can give the illusion of height. As the dress is very sleek it shows every curve. Even though the dress is very sexy it has the right balance needed for a wedding dress. A pretty vibe is felt through the sequins which are placed throughout the fabric. These sequins catch light beautifully adding an extra dimension to the gown. If you would like to add a pop of colour with extra sparkle, the ribbon sash comes in ivory, black, sterling or latte. The dress also comes with a choice of colour ranging from ivory lace over ivory or café, to white lace over white. Another positive to this gown is the light weight feel; the weight of a dress is something many brides do not consider but is an important factor. This dress would be perfect for a summer wedding or a wedding abroad in a hot climate. If you want to shine on your big day I would definitely recommend booking an appointment with us to try on a few of our Stella York designs. Their designs really do cater to all personalities and are beautifully made, no detail is overlooked.
I have just joined the team at La Novia and have fallen in love with numerous gowns and intend to share my ‘dresses of the month’ regularly. This month a design which attracted my attention is Liliana’s own design ‘Sofia’. Sofia is exquisite, with minimal detail the gown relies on the simplistic beauty which is created with a sweet heart neckline, a favourite amongst brides and a full skirt and train which add a bit of drama, giving an overall WOW factor. The material primarily used is duchess satin with a dotty tulle overlay. The design can be altered to incorporate any desired fabric but the dotty tulle adds a playful twist.
Another quirky aspect to the design is the bolero. The bolero creates a completely different look for a bride and is a fabulous way to take a gown from day to evening. This allows brides to have two special looks without the expense of purchasing two dresses. When the bolero is placed over the gown a vintage 1960s vibe is felt. The use of a satin collar helps create a new neckline and a satin trim on the hemline finishes it off beautifully. The use of dotty tulle once more creates charm and a unique spin on the traditional shape. The bolero is completed with pearl button fastenings on the back. This couture design really is something special and I urge any bride to pop in to have a look at this particular design as well as the other designer bridal wear on offer.
Another, more unusual design comes from designer Ian Stuart. Ian Stuart’s latest collection takes inspiration from glamorous couture in the late 1940s to early 50s. His design ‘Coco Rico’ stocked by La Novia does not disappoint on the glamour front. With a striking silhouette, this dress is perfect for any bride wishing to make a statement. The creative nature of the design is unique and clever. The lower part of the dress is detachable giving the bride the freedom to change her look.
As I discussed I’m fascinated with gowns which can transform and give brides options on how they wish to wear them, giving them their own unique look. Coco Rico is mainly ivory with a touch of colour from the flower detail; muted colours of pink and blue complement each other very well. The main material for this gown is taffeta this adds to the dreamy, fairytale feel and Swarovski crystals and beads on the neckline are perfectly placed. They add to the dress as a feature but do not overpower, Stuart has crafted a seamless balance. This shop really does deliver top quality bridal wear in Scotland and I look forward to updating you with next month’s special finds.
